Job Overview

Job description

The situation of Iraq and especially the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) is characterized by the continuing economic crisis and the protracted displacement conditions of Syrian Refugees and Iraqi internally displaced people (IDPs). High unemployment rates, the dependence on the oil economy and the enormous role of the public sector are preventing a sustainable private sector development. Therefore, the project “Employment Promotion for IDPs, refugees, returnees and socially deprived households in host communities” aims at improving the access to employment opportunities, especially in the private sector. To achieve this goal, the project is working on (1) increasing job seekers’ employability, (2) supporting the growth of MSMEs ( Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) in the region and therefore creating new employment opportunities, and on (3) further developing a well-functioning job skills-matching system. The project is implemented in the four governorates of KRI: Duhok, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Halabja. In the upcoming years of implementation, activities are also planned to open to other parts of Iraq, namely Ninewa Governorate.
