Job Summary
The Agriculture Assistant will be responsible to support the Agriculture Officer in the implementation of Samaritan’s Purse’s Economic Activities for Returnees to Ninewa (EARN) Program in Sinjar, Iraq. The Assistant will spend most of their time in villages throughout the program area supporting Agriculture trainings and demonstrating best practices. The Assistant will also support with the distributions of Agriculture supplies. The Assistant will participate in surveys and assessments to select beneficiaries and monitor the successful implementation of the program. The Assistant will make frequent field visits to beneficiary villages to provide hands-on Agriculture technical support. The Agriculture Assistant will also participate in other relevant SP programming work assigned to him/her.
Job Duties:
- Mobilize and identify vulnerable families within the program area to engage in agriculture programs.
- Support the Agriculture officer to conduct baseline and endline surveys with beneficiaries in the program area.
- Facilitate Agriculture trainings in coordination with Agriculture officer and demonstrate best practices for caring for farms.
- Provide technical guidance and serve as a general resource to beneficiaries on agriculture practices during follow-up visits.
- Support with the distribution of agriculture materials and other program materials as assigned.
- Troubleshoot challenges within assigned activities and present proposed solutions to the Agriculture Officer and the Agriculture Program Coordinator.
- Follow SP, humanitarian, and programmatic standards of quality and excellence.
- Assist the Agriculture Officer in compiling and drafting reports, financial documentation, beneficiary documentation, and other programmatic related documents.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Agriculture Program Coordinator, Agriculture Officer, or Program Manager.

Education / Experience Needed
- Must have relevant Agriculture experience
- University degree in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry or other related field preferred, but not required.
- At least four years relevant work experience with farms, livestock, bees, or other Agriculture activities.
- Work experience with INGO’s is preferred, but not required.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel is preferred.
LANGUAGE
Arabic and Kurdish required; English is strongly preferred.
