Wood is currently recruiting for Area Support Engineer – Process on a 4×4 rotational basis for one of our projects located in Iraq.
Operational Responsibilities
- Direct liaison with Production Operations (Site) and manages plant operations and engineering manager and other stakeholders for troubleshooting any abnormalities, providing engineering solutions, identify debottlenecking opportunities, provide guidance to Operations staff in solving operating problems to assure reliability, high efficiency, to achieve best practice production in line with HSE Management System, initiating and executing management of change process for any changes to be implemented.
- Solve operating problems and optimizing/monitoring process conditions through data acquisition, analysis, and applications to assure reliability and to achieve high efficiency
- Support safe and efficient operation of all process facilities, safety systems and utilities to ensure maximum production of hydrocarbons in accordance with standards, production targets, plans and specifications.
- Proficiently delivered Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, installation, Start-up of E&P facilities. Well conversant with shutdown isolation (LO/LC/CSC/CSO) and pre-commissioning and commissioning work procedures.
- Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving during equipment or unit failure and performs startup and shut down of the equipment/unit safely with in parameter of safe operating envelope (Process Safety Management)
- Review the operating data as per the planned production targets, past and present prevailing conditions including laboratory analysis, operating plant performance; highlight any major deviations from the operating envelopes (parameters), and ensure suitable actions are taken towards their mitigation.
- Approves pigging operations and liaises with maintenance personnel on pig launching, determines and controls pig speed and flow rates.
- Ensure process start-up and shutdown procedures are technically correct to ensure efficient plant re-sets and start-up after a plant trip or major planned shutdown
- Providing daily Engineering support to the Rumaila Operations (Degassing Stations, Multiple Pipelines, Tanks Farms, Booster Pumps, Separators etc) and being the first point of contact for any Process Engineering queries from the area operations team.
- Develop or lead others in developing/ improving/ modifying Work packs, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Process datasheets, etc
- Lead/ Participate internal HAZOP, What-If Risk Assessment, Hazard Assessment, Operations Risk Assessment (ORA) and LOPA studies
- Lead/ Coach Local National Engineers, managing performance, schedules, and daily tasks.
- Lead/ participate in 5-Whys Investigations of Root cause Analysis (RCA)
- Assumes Single Point Accountable (SPA) for the front-end definition of various technical changes originating from operational work scopes. Carry out Site Surveys, preparation of Basis of Design, SOR’s, EQs response and MOC development.
- Act as custodian of the station capacity and safe operating limits.
Design Responsibilities
- Preparation of design basis, process flow diagram, P&ID’s, data sheet, operating philosophy and other documentations including using HYSYS, PIPESIM and other calculations for review and upgrade of existing systems
- Performs Engineering calculations and sizing or guiding others in sizing calculations needed to process gas and crude oil.
- Prepare detailed engineering design documentation including calculations, SOW reports, MSDs, etc.
- Prepare engineering design documentation for concept, front end and detailed design stages of assigned projects.
Skills / Qualifications
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum of 16 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
- Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, installation, Start-up of E&P facilities (Wells, Well Pads, Oil, Gas & Water Injection facilities).
- Handling of Distributed Control System (DCS), FGS, ESD systems.
- Interface Operations & coordination, troubleshooting and problem solving.
- HSE performance
- Knowledge of KPIs and support their delivery.
- 5 years’ experience in Operations, in field, support
- Candidate to demonstrate familiarity with all relevant industry process engineering codes, standards, and practices (API, ASME, ISO), and relevant experience with key Process engineering tools such as Aspen HYSYS & Flare System Analyser, etc.
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
Educational Attainments:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Membership of a recognized professional institute preferred
- Ability to speak Arabic would be beneficial but not essential
