Barista

This position will report directly to the Chef.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

AUIB is looking for an engaging, courteous barista who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education. The barista will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders, and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. Also maintaining a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of coffees, new presentation option and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.

To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Barista takes on a range of roles including:

  • Prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks that meet quality standards
  • Properly handle and maintain all equipment
  • Knowledge of making smoothies and shakes
  • Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner
  • Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling procedures
  • Serve customers quickly and efficiently
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings
  • Observe relevant health and safety standards

 

A good Baristas should possess:

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy
  • Enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge

EXPERIENCE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Barista certificate or proof of official training
  • Retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to problem solve quickly
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions
