INTERSOS is an international, non-profit, humanitarian organization on the front line of emergencies, bringing assistance to victims of armed conflicts, natural disasters, and extreme exclusion with particular attention to the protection of the most vulnerable people. Since 1992 our humanitarian workers have been helping people affected by humanitarian crises: we provide first aid, food, shelter, medical assistance, and basic goods. We ensure that basic needs, such as education, access to clean water, and health assistance, are met.

All INTERSOS employees are expected to perform their roles and responsibilities according to the INTERSOS charter of values, code of ethics, PSEA and Child Protection policies. The job description is mandatory for all positions within INTERSOS and shall be signed by the employee within the first week of employment.

Purpose/objective of the position:

The Cashier is responsible for supporting INTERSOS activities in the field and staff with admin/finance tasks on a daily basis. He/she is expected to be honest and transparent and keep the necessary level of confidentiality on information acquired on the job.

Generic Duties:

  • In charge of daily bookkeeping and cash counts.
  • Handling all payments to suppliers and contractors as requested and authorized by management staff and immediate supervisor by cash.
  • Monitoring all cash flow movements and maintaining records of incoming and outgoing funds.
  • Preparation of cash count on daily, weekly, and monthly bases.
  • Provide administrative support, such as filing, archiving, and organizing documents related to financial transactions.
  • Any other duties not listed above and necessary for the implementation of the activities.
  • 25% mandatory travel to other mission’s bases.

Person Specification:

Education and professional experience:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or any other related field 
  • Minimum two years relevant professional experience

 

Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Understanding the fundamental principles of accounting.
  • Computer literacy Word, PowerPoint and particularly Excel
  • Mathematical and analytical skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • High confidentiality, respect, and non-discriminatory attitude
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Arabic and/or Kurdish (written and spoken)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
