In 2003, following the start of foreign military operations in Iraq, DRC became one of the first organisations to provide humanitarian assistance in the country and now operates in 11 governorates, including Anbar, Baghdad, Babel, Diyala, Duhok, Erbil, Karbala, Kirkuk, Najaf, Ninewa and Salah-al-Din.
- Provide support to national camp management teams in IDP camps and/or support IDP site representatives in informal settlements and returnee locations.
- Ensure regular contact (physical or through phone calls) and collect site specific information/updates from IDP and returnee representatives.
- Assist in identifying needs, service gaps and duplications in all targeted sites.
- Document, track and provide timely referrals and service requests to specialist service providers.
- Help facilitate awareness campaigns, trainings and information dissemination to IDPs populations using diverse methodologies, ensuring understanding by the IDP community
- Attend meetings with various stakeholders, including national authorities and IDPs as necessary or requested.
- Provide accurate and timely information that supports the drafting of weekly situation reports and other updates.
- Support the CCCM Officer and CCCM Team Leader in any other duties, as needed.
- Maintenance of identified malfunctions of doors, windows, damaged parts in the ceilings or bases of cabinets, as well as metal furniture, whether in the blacksmith’s workshop located in the center or in the beneficiary’s place as needed
- The CCCM Assistant is a field-based position which supposes daily presence in camps/informal IDP settlements.
- The CCCM Assistant will undertake any other tasks, within the framework of his/her position, as requested by his/her supervisor.
- Coordinating with sector managers and activating effective communication channels to respond quickly to any malfunction and take the necessary measures to fix it.
Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
- Minimum 2 year of professional experience, ideally involved in social services or community activism.
- Ideally, at least 1 year experience in international and/or local NGO; ideally involved in the direct implementation of field level humanitarian assistance to refugees, IDPs, or returnees.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in creating, establishing and negotiating relationships and building alliances and networks with various stakeholders at community and local and national levels.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian issues, especially related to displacement.
- Have 2 years’ experience in blacksmithing maintenance.
- Ability to draft basic reports and situational briefings in English.
- Competence using Microsoft Word and Excel necessary.
- Experience in social services or community activism.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and values.
- Understanding of gender, protection and human rights.
- Extensive knowledge of Iraqi displacement.
