Job Overview


Job purpose

The Communications Manager (CM) is responsible for the management and maintenance of all related communication and information systems within a diplomatic project.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Repairing and maintaining all project communications equipment, including tracking hardware readiness, and associated software
  • Providing continuation and refresher training for project personnel, including diplomatic staff when required
  • Managing deployed tactical radio systems and cryptographic handling
  • Maintaining all electronic equipment fitted to armoured vehicles, including but not limited to ECM, Satellite phones, dashcam, DVR and GPS tracking systems.
  • Managing the frequency database
  • Assisting clients with IT and communications issues when required




  • Must have 5 years military/police service or equivalent commercial security and risk management experience, and at least two years previous experience operating in Iraq, or similar high-risk environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated competence in technical telecommunications role, and familiarity with HF, VHF, Satellite, Internet/Voice over Internet systems, GPS and Transponder communication systems.
  • Relevant military or civilian qualifications, and experience repairing and maintaining communications equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic (Iraqi dialect) is desirable but not essential.
