Background

Working under contract with USAID and other aid donors, Chemonics designs and implements
development projects in many of the world’s developing countries.
The Iraq Durable Communities and Economic Opportunities (DCEO) is a United States Agency for
International Development (USAID) program implemented by Chemonics International in Iraq.
DCEO aims to support vulnerable communities to build community resilience against destabilizing
factors by increasing their adaptive capacity and economic well-being. The project consists of two
objectives. Objective 1, Adaptative capacity of vulnerable communities increased is achieved
through two components. Component 1.1 seeks to mitigate drivers of conflict in targeted
communities and Component 1.2 seeks to enhance community leadership of inclusive local
development. Objective 2, Economic well-being of communities advanced, will rest on the
assessments, analysis, foundations, and groundwork of Objective 1.

 

 

OBJECTIVE:
Working on the 100 Solutions Task Order, the Basrah-based Community Coordination Associate
(CCA) supports in the implementation, management, and administration of community
engagement as well as activities identified to support Basrah communities. This will include
support to organize and potentially co-facilitate community engagement as well as supporting the
day-to-day operations of the team.
The CCA will be responsible for carrying out tasks assigned by the supervising Senior Community
Coordination Officer (CCO).

 

 

Responsibilities
• Support the overall implementation and monitoring of project activities on the ground,
according to the project requirements.
• Co/Facilitate regular meetings and sessions with local communities and stakeholders to
ensure their active participation.
• Support Community Coordination Officers during the implementation of community
engagement including both technical and administrative tasks
• Work closely with the Community Coordination Officer on identifying and engaging key
community stakeholders.
• Support in completion of regular reporting requirements including both narrative and data
compilation
• In coordination with the supervisor, facilitate regular communication and coordination as
necessary between project and local stakeholders – city, municipality, local communities,
educational, cultural, social and sports institutions, civil society organizations, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Reports to: Senior Community Coordination Officer

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience, preferably community-based work or in the field
of social cohesion
• Demonstrated understanding of Iraqi context, especially in area assigned
• Arabic language required, English preferred but not required
