Job Summary:
We are seeking a Community Engagement and Mental Health Support Specialist to provide psychosocial support (PSS), mental health awareness, and community engagement in Domiz1 and Sharia IDP camps. This role will focus on structured PSS sessions, consultations, community outreach, and gender-based violence (GBV) awareness to enhance the emotional well-being of vulnerable individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Psychosocial Support (PSS):
• Provide ongoing psychosocial support to community members, focusing on emotional well-being.
• Conduct PSS sessions to address mental health challenges and provide coping strategies.
• Offer one-on-one consultations for individuals engaged in recreational activities.
2. Recreational Activities Consultation:
• Ensure mental health support is integrated into recreational activities.
• Provide psychological first aid and emotional support to participants during events.
3. Support to Community Health Workers (CHWs):
• Assist CHWs in door-to-door health awareness activities.
• Educate community members on mental health, stress management, and well-being.
• Guide CHWs in integrating mental health topics into community health outreach.
4. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness:
• Cover GBV awareness topics during home visits.
• Educate communities on prevention, support mechanisms, and referral services.
• Ensure survivors are linked to appropriate support services.
Qualifications & Requirements:
✅ Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field.
âś… At least 2 years of experience in psychosocial support, community engagement, or mental health services.
âś… Experience in working with refugees, IDPs, or vulnerable populations.
âś… Strong understanding of GBV, child protection, and trauma-informed care.
âś… Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
âś… Ability to work flexibly in a humanitarian setting.
🔹 Preferred: Kurdish language skills, previous NGO experience, and knowledge of case management and referral pathways.
