Job Overview

Main Purpose:

Define, supervise and monitor implementation of all the IEC (Information,      Education, Communication) on COVID-19 prevention and awareness activities in the project. Promote INTERSOS services, principles, protocols and procedures in order to increase the awareness of the target population with health preventive activities and messages.



  • Contribute to define and update the Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) strategy and related activities through the definition of objectives, target population, campaigns, messages, activities, specific actions, etc.
  • Provide support in selecting and developing quality communication strategies towards the community planning information campaigns, including targets, objectives, methods, materials and goals in order to increase awareness on COVID-19 among the targeted population according to the project needs;
  • Assess knowledge of the target group on a health risk and analyse the context (local culture, traditions, habits, health perception) to adapt health activities and support the social mapping (villages, populations, actors). Identify indicators in order to monitor COVID related activities results and achievement using the concrete tools to measure and follow up those activities
  • Ensure regular collaboration and coordination with INTERSOS Medical Activity Manager Assistant reporting to the medical team any information linked to the health situation of the population and the patients to guarantee that the COVID awareness is part of medical activities and contribute to the medical objectives of the project
  • Organize, train and supervise the CHVs in terms of planning and organizing their work, supporting, evaluating and coaching of personnel, collecting reports and reporting the activities and regularly visiting communities
  • Know protection’s protocols and ensure its application. Report vulnerable cases and refer them to the protection focal point for case management according to protocols
  • Supervise CHVs and their activities, in and outside health facilities, reporting difficulties and progress as well as adapting format and content when necessary
  • In close coordination with HR department plan and supervise HR associated processes (recruitment, training, evaluations, communication etc) of the CHVs of the project under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required


  • Essential working experience in related jobs (health promotion, social research), social worker or promotion related studies.
  • CHW training (done by MOH) is an asset;
  • Essential computer literacy;
  • Local language and Arabic knowledge essential;
  • Proactive attitude and well acceptance in the community;
  • Teamwork and cooperation;
  • Behavioral flexibility and Stress Management;
  • Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
  • Willing to work in door-to-door activities.
