ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Key relationships:

Dental team, vulnerable population of refugees, supervisors, camp management.

General objective of the position:
The community-based health workers will provide an overview of the importance of oral health within refugee camps and among children and highlight the prevalence of dental diseases and their impact on overall health and well-being.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Outline specific goals for the community health workers (CHWs) in raising awareness about dental diseases and prevention methods among children in refugee camps.
  • Disseminating information on common dental diseases, oral hygiene practices, and preventive measures.
  • Conduct awareness workshops for people inside the refugee camps.
  • Detail the target audience, including age groups and specific demographics among the refugee population.
  • Conduct educational sessions on oral hygiene practices, including brushing techniques and the importance of regular dental check-ups.
  • Distribute educational materials such as brochures, posters, and leaflets translated into appropriate languages.
  • Organize interactive workshops or seminars engaging children and caregivers to promote oral health awareness.

Collaboration and Partnerships:

  • Establish partnerships with local dental clinics or health facilities to facilitate access to dental care and treatment for refugees.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders within the camps for logistical support and resources for educational campaigns.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Implement a monitoring framework to track the progress of awareness campaigns conducted by CHWs.
  • Collect feedback from the community to assess educational initiatives’ effectiveness and identify improvement areas.

Ethical Considerations:

  • Emphasize respecting cultural norms and practices while promoting oral health education.
  • Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity when addressing personal health-related issues.
  • Develop a timeline outlining the schedule for various awareness activities and deliverables.
  • Set milestones for progress evaluation and reporting.

Key Other Duties:

  • Perform any other related duties assigned by your immediate supervisor.

 

THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory Qualifications required

•        University/Baccalaureate degree in a related field required such as medical background or education.

•        1 year experience in community engagement.

•        Desirable 4 experience in Human Resource Management,

Languages

•        English and Arabic.

•        Kurdish is an advantage
