Purpose/objective of the position:

The Community Mobilization Team Leader will oversee the activities of the Community Mobilizers to promote the safety, dignity, and basic rights of individuals and communities in the assigned area of operation. The Team Leader will work to support the empowerment of communities and individuals through capacity-building and support activities, and coordinates with other members of the protection teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of protection activities.

Generic Duties:

  • In collaboration with the situational monitoring analyst oversee situational monitoring activities at household and community levels, ensuring individuals at risk are identified and provided with orientation on available services or referred as required.
  • Ensure systematic and timely data collection using a standard tool.
  • Monitor and report protection concerns and trends, new population displacements and movements in the areas of operation.
  • Support the Situational Monitoring Analyst in the reporting of qualitative and quantitative data and information.
  • Build relationships between INTERSOS and the community, engaging with members and facilitating the implementation of community-based protection mechanisms.
  • Together with the capacity building and engagment officer build the capacity of community members and outeach volunteers to protect themselves and others, and provide ongoing support.
  • Support the outreach protection activities and implement sessions to increase community participation through mobile teams of volunteers.
  • Map community structures and stakeholders, in order to facilitate contextual understanding and identify areas for collaborative CBP interventions.
  • Set work plans and provide regular supervison of activity implementation by the Community Outreach Volunteers/Community Mobilizers and vocational trainers; ensure the quality of their activities and monitor their progress against project targets and timelines, including through regular field visits to monitor the activities.
  • Together with other protection team staff, identify and facilitate community-led initiatives which promote protection and/or social cohesion, stimulating community actions to strengthen the  prevention and response to protection risks.
  • Coordinate with other members of the protection team and relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of protection activities.
  • Map main service providers in the area of intervention on a quarterly basis and identify and report gaps in the availability of services and quality of service provision.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of protection monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles;
  • Support sensitization, information dissemination and awareness raising activities.

 

 

Specific Duties:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to the Community Mobilizers.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Community Mobilizers to ensure effective coordination of activities.
  • Ensure that the Community Mobilizers adheres to the job description and all INTERSOS policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback and support to the Community Mobilizers to improve the quality of their activities.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for the Community Mobilizers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, community leaders, and service providers.

 

Person Specification:

Education and professional experience:

  • University Degree in a related field (social work, development studies, or international relations)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field, including experience in protection monitoring and reporting, community engagement, and capacity-building.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and facilitate dialogue with diverse groups.
  • Previous working experience with IDPs, refugees and returnees;
  • Strong knowledge of international protection in the humanitarian context.
