Wood is currently looking for a Construction Supervisor (Mechanical / Rotating) to join our team in Basra, Iraq on a 6 Weeks On / 6 Weeks Off rotation


  • Construction supervision and co-ordination of the work at site to maximize the effectiveness of construction delivery to time, budget and quality objectives
  • Monitor and review construction documentation to support timely construction installation and completion
  • Monitor, progress and review construction installation and completions by the EPC Contractor at site
  • Liaise with the EPC Contractor as required
  • Enhance and demonstrate commitment to raising HSE standards and proposing new initiatives or improvements
  • Provide technical assistance to the construction supervision team
  • Monitor and review construction related documentation originated by the EPC Contractor
  • Review project studies and proposals for constructability and / or construction hazard identification
  • Monitor and review the EPC Contractor’s and their Subcontractors construction activities including resourcing thereof
  • Supervise, schedule and direct activities of assigned personnel engaged in rotating equipment erection work in field
  • Supervise contractors’ personnel on rotating equipment maintenance jobs and ensure implementation of contracts according to prescribed terms and conditions
  • Supervise inspection and testing jobs on rotating equipment and auxiliaries, such as pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, fin-fans, mixers and gas engines, etc.
  • Typical operations include installation of rotating equipment, inspecting internals and test-checking
  • Assist Engineers, Rotating Equipment in execution of installation work, check work until completion to required standards, check manning levels and assist in supervision of assigned rotating equipment
  • Exposure to condition monitoring techniques
  • Ensure proper implementation of work procedures and standards
  • Ensure that all record documents, drawings and history cards are maintained up-to-date and  implement good housekeeping, and adherence to fire and safety regulations
  • Assist in the resolution of technical queries arising at site
  • Coordinate and resolve field construction queries interfacing with engineering and completions
  • Review “as built“ drawings and assist in the review and approval of sub-contractors method statements
  • Participate in meetings as required
  • Monitor, appraise, and report to Line Manager on quality and safety construction performed by the EPC Contractor and their Subcontractors / Vendors


Skills / Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications

  • HND or home country equivalent: Mechanical discipline
  • Should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience working with Rotating Equipment’s in the Oil and Gas Projects
  • Minimum 5 years in Oil & Gas Project Construction and Execution
  • Middle East experience and knowledge of Arabic culture preferable
  • Experience in Brown and Greenfield construction projects
  • Knowledge and experience of work face planning and work packaging
  • Good working knowledge of typical construction site processes, Site Technical Query,  Material Management, QA/QC
  • IT Literate (Excel / Word etc)
  • Good influencing and negotiating skills
