Consultant for Nursing Program at the College of Nursing at AUK

AUK invites applications and nominations for the Job of Consultant in the College of Nursing. This is a part-time position.

AUK is a newly established public, not-for-profit, special status institution committed to advancing academic excellence, expanding liberal, professional, and scientific knowledge and preparing the next generation of leaders for the community. AUK envisions becoming the leading academic institution in the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq and beyond through implementing pedagogical approaches that impact critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and the lifelong learning skills required for success in contemporary society and workplaces. Its focus is on developing Kurdistan’s leaders into the future; graduates of the Bachelor’s in Nursing will become change makers in the health care sector. The College has just admitted its first cohort of students in its Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN).

This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing at AUK. The successful applicant will work virtually and would be invited to campus 2-3 times a year. As residence in Duhok, Kurdistan is not required, it is expected that the candidate could start in September 2021.

Job Description

  • Provide expertise on the implementation of the Nursing curriculum at the College of Nursing.
  • Develop course objectives, student learning outcomes, and syllabi for the core Nursing courses listed within the BSN.
  • Provide expertise on the selection of equipment in the Nursing skills lab and other related labs at AUK.
  • Collaborate with an institutional partner in the US for capacity building for teaching and obtaining Nursing Programmatic Accreditation (ACEN) in the College of Nursing at AUK.
  • Serve as accreditation liaison for the BSN.
  • Develop and conduct training for the Nursing faculty.
  • Assist in the advertisement for and recruitment of faculty.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to develop a strategic plan for the College of Nursing at AUK.


PhD or DNP degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

Communication skills and compassion for promoting the Nursing profession and working with others in the field.

Knowledge and expertise in the Programmatic Nursing Accreditation process (preferably ACEN).
