Position: Coordinator for Legal Aid Clinic
Location: Iraq-Erbil
Reports to: Managing Director
Contract Duration: 10 Months
Working Hours: Full-time
Scope of Work
- Program Management and Coordination
– Oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring efficient service delivery and effective management of resources.
– Coordinate efforts among legal aid team members, including lawyers, and administrative staff, to meet client needs promptly and effectively.
– Establish and maintain systems for monitoring service quality and client satisfaction, continuously identifying areas for improvement.
– Manage client intake and case management processes, upholding legal and ethical standards.
– Work closely with partner organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive support services, including referral assistance.
– Provide as needed support based on the Managing Director instruction.
- Legal Support and Advocacy
– Assist the legal aid team in delivering accurate legal advice and advocacy, focusing on vulnerable groups such as juveniles, refugees, and survivors of violence.
– Ensure legal practices align with national laws and international standards, especially in cases involving juveniles and human rights.
– Identify recurring legal issues faced by clients and work with the team to propose advocacy initiatives or policy recommendations.
– Coordinate regular follow-ups with legal practitioners on case progress, ensuring timely interventions and detailed record-keeping.
- Capacity Building and Staff Development
– Organize training sessions for clinic staff, interns, and volunteers on relevant laws, client management, and best practices.
– Identify and promote external training and professional development opportunities to keep the team informed on legal updates, policy changes, and evolving practices.
– Work with external experts to enhance training materials and resources for clinic staff and community outreach initiatives.
- Documentation and Reporting
– Maintain accurate and confidential case records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with legal and organizational standards.
– Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on clinic activities, challenges, and outcomes, with insights for program improvement.
– Document case outcomes and compile statistics for program evaluation, donor reporting, and impact analysis.
– Contribute to grant proposal preparation and progress reports, capturing impact stories and success cases as needed.
- Community Outreach and Engagement
– Develop outreach strategies to increase awareness of the clinic’s services, particularly in underserved communities.
– Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and informational sessions on legal rights and available legal services.
– Build and maintain relationships with local government bodies, civil society organizations, and community leaders to support outreach and referrals.
– Conduct community needs assessments to ensure the clinic’s services are responsive to local demands, with a particular focus on child protection and juvenile justice.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement
– Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to assess the effectiveness of legal services and identify areas for improvement.
– Implement client feedback mechanisms to ensure a client-centered approach in service delivery.
– Review and refine internal processes regularly to optimize service quality, efficiency, and impact.
Qualifications and Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in law, social sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred but not required).
-At least 2 years of proven experience in legal aid services, case management, or human rights programs, preferably within Iraq.
– Strong understanding of Iraqi laws, particularly in juvenile justice, child protection, and human rights.
– Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with a keen attention to detail.
– Fluency in Arabic and Kurdish (preferred), with a good command of English.
– Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining a client-centered approach and commitment to confidentiality.

– Number of cases effectively managed and resolved within defined timeframes.
– Client satisfaction levels and quality of feedback received.
– Effectiveness in coordinating with team members and external partners.
– Timeliness and accuracy of reports submitted to the program director and donors.
– Scope and impact of outreach activities and community awareness regarding the clinic’s legal aid services.
