Senior Cost Engineer

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepares classified and unclassified estimates in line with stage gate parameters and provides estimate confidence in applying a risk analysis model using proprietary probabilistic cost analysis tools such as BRISK.
  • Understands WBS process for developing the Estimation Cost Breakdown Structure
  • Subject Matter Expert on Cost Estimating. Assists the Projects department any queries relating to estimating.
  • Benchmark estimates against similar projects inside and outside the Middle East region. Participates in gathering and recording lessons learned for the project
  • Maintain an estimate database including benchmarking curves of major process materials and installation costs
  • Can develop estimates from detailed MTO’s and have a good understanding of engineering drawings and documentation. Able to execute take-offs from line diagrams or P&ID’s, apply rates to prepare cost estimates.
  • Assists Project Services in developing control budgets and phasing budgets using project schedules
  • Provides input into the WP&B for estimated FEED and recent sanctioned projects
  • Support project services in developing cost forecast by estimating cost trends
  • Validate contractor estimates including change orders as part of management of change process
  • Works effectively within established policies and procedures. Participates in the further development and proficient in writing all related procedures
  • Supports the bidding process by development and preparation of cost estimates for capital projects and participates in validation with tender committees
  • Capable of handling multi-estimation tasks simultaneously
  • Promotes inter-departmental communications and encourages teamwork.  Establishes clear communications between all stakeholders

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Thorough and extensive knowledge of estimating and project controls principles
  • Ideally be familiar with company practices, processes, and expectations with respect to Estimating
  • Graduate engineer or equivalent technical qualification with at least 15+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills, must be able to work effectively as part of a matrix organisation and as member of the Project Services Team

  • Ability to deliver exceptional results in difficult project environments
