Wood is recruiting for a Deputy Operations Advisor (Local National) to join its Iraq Business Unit to work closely with Station Operators, Shift supervisors, and Shift Engineers counterpart.

This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq with Travel Requirement.

Rotation: 5 days on 2 days off

Key Objectives

  • Production Optimization:
  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to enhance the production.
  • Monitors and adjusts process parameters to maintain optimal operating conditions and product quality.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

 

  • Enhances Safety Culture
  • Promotes the use of Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) -Identify hazards during job pre-planning to reduce accidents.
  • Hazard Identification (HID) – promotes the identification of hazards and tracks to completion.

 

  • Work Management System (WMS)
  • Provide on-going training to the secondees on the WMS Process.
  • Assist Permit-to-Work Coordinator in overseeing permitted work activities from the pre-job planning phase through the work execution and work site restoration phases.
  • Perform Work Permit audits and discuss lessons learned.

 

  • Management Controls Reporting System (MCRS)
  • Participates in the Degassing Stations’ Meeting that occur in the Central Control Rooms (CCR)
  • Monitor the use of PI (Production Information system) in the CCR by operators – Data Input Quality

 

  • Capacity Enhancement / Downtime
  • Review events daily (cease-flow/shut-in wells) and develop response plans.
  • Complete client Problem Well Report form
  • Work with Reservoir, and Subsurface Team on facility and well surveillance.

 

  • Facility Surveillance
  • Promotes Handovers notes between shifts engineers.
  • Performs weekly degassing Station walkabouts.
    • Safety – looking for unsafe conditions.
    • Facility – compile a “To Do” list for maintenance.
  • Review operators’ surveillance sheets looking for anomalies.
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks with planned work activities.
  • Completes Client maintenance Notification Form for items that require maintenance support.

 

Interface & Ad-hoc Projects

  • Work closely with Station Operators, Shift supervisors, and Shift Engineers counterpart.

Expected:

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil production operations, wet crude processing, and wells operations.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word), PI (Production Information System).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
