VACANCY: Economic Security Assistant 1


The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organisation, which assists and protects victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence. The ICRC is currently looking for staff for its support operations in Iraq.

Duty Station: Baghdad Centre (BGD)

Reports to: Economic Security (EcoSec) Delegate

Duration of Contract: One-year fixed term contract (with the possibility of renewal to an open-ended contract where performance and competencies are key to be selected for further contractual continuity)

The Economic Security (EcoSec) Assistant 1 is to ensure a high-quality follow-up of the financial aspects of the activities implemented and to ensure that all Logistics and Administrative procedures are followed and respected by the Economic Security (EcoSec) team based in BGD sub-delegation.











  • Is aware of and advises the delegate on the socio-economic, cultural and political situation in the country in general, and in his/her Area of Responsibility (AoR) in particular.
  • Represents the ICRC principles, mandate and activities to interlocutors and beneficiaries in his/her AoR.
  • Performs problem and situation analyses in order to identify pertinent issues and needs that would require an ICRC Economic Security (EcoSec)
  • Develops a clear understanding of the work of local authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders, ensuring fluid communication and cooperation with his/her network.
  • Administrative Management
  • Organize and maintain the department’s filing (projects, electronic, and others).
  • In coordination with the BGD Assistant and Information Management Officer (AIMO), ensure archiving is properly done.
  • Supervise the weekly planning process of field trips, upon request collect requests and send for approval.
  • Upon request, represent the dept. in ICRC briefing and/or meetings.


  • Finance and Administration FAD and Logistics Management:
  • Liaise with the Economic Security (EcoSec) team both in BGD and BAG in raising Payment Requests (PRs), Supply Requests (SRs) and other related financial and logistical documentation in support of payment processing.
  • Ensure by coordinating with both Finance and Administration Manager (FAD) and Logistic (LOG) that the Distribution Tracking Portal (DTP) file is regularly updated and all delivery related documentation such as Proof of Deliveries (PoDs), Distribution Certificates for BNFs (DCBENs) are received from field and uploaded into the system.


  • Reporting:
  • Ensure the departmental inputs are captured in the Weekly Operational Report (WOR).
  • Compile and submit the Monthly Statistical Report (MSR) and Economic Security (EcoSec) Programme Management Tool (EPMT) on time.


  • Education and Professional Experience required:
  • High school diploma, technical education or professional or university degree in a related field.
  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a similar field.
  • Good command (written and spoken) of English.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment.
  • Good analytical skill.
