Duration of Contract: One-year fixed term contract (with the possibility of renewal to an open-ended contract where performance and competencies are key to be selected for further contractual continuity)

The Economic Security Generalist 2 plans, implements and monitors the ICRC Economic Security (EcoSec) programme in BGD Sub-Delegation in line with the country strategy and under the supervision and guidance of their hierarchical superior. Specifically, she/he is the Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) Focal Point and is responsible for the overall design and implementation of Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) projects.








  • Is aware of and advises the delegate on the socio-economic, cultural and political situation in the country in general, and in his/her area of responsibility (AoR) in particular.
  • Represents the ICRC principles, mandate and activities to interlocutors and beneficiaries in his/her AoR.
  • Performs problem and situation analyses in order to identify pertinent issues and needs that would require an ICRC EcoSec (Economic Security)
  • Develops a clear understanding of the work of local authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders, ensuring fluid communication and cooperation with his/her network.
  • Represents the ICRC at bilateral and/or coordination meetings with other organisations and reports the information collected.


  • Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) Focal Point:

Under supervision and with support from the BGD TL, works independently in the preparation and implementation of each step of the project management cycle for the Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) and coordinates as well as supports and coaches the Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) team members, including:

  • Understands Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) programme cycle, criteria and EcoSec’s (Economic Security) approach to improve beneficiaries’ income generation activities.
  • Presents and disseminates the Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) programme to target communities.
  • Answers beneficiary questions and provides guidance when completing the application forms and business plans, including giving feedback on approved/rejected applications.
  • Visits households to assess the feasibility of Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) projects based on the application forms.
  • Carries out market assessments to understand market dynamics and to establish the feasibility of Micro-Economic Initiative (MEI) projects in each location.
  • Provides basic business skills training and other follow-up support to selected beneficiaries, as needed.


  • Support to other Livelihood Support Projects (LSP) activities:
  • Assist in preparing drafts of assessment reports and project proposals ensuring that it contains all necessary information, including relevant examples and coherent arguments and link it with generating Device Magic (DM) forms.
  • Contributes to the design of monitoring forms, independently carries out field monitoring activities (including with the use of Device Magic), analyses both qualitative and quantitative data, and prepares the first draft of monitoring reports.



  • Education and Professional Experience required:
  • University degree or professional diploma in economics, business studies or related fields.
  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a similar field.
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Very good computer skills.
  • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment.
  • Good analytical skills.
