Education Officer

Job Overview

Holder of this position is responsible to technically support the effective implementation of the 3-5  Early Childhood Care and Development program with the special focus on parental education on early stimulation, supports the integration and coordination among sponsorship core programs, strategically lead community-based parenting session on early stimulation, supports partnership and networking with key partners and stakeholders, ensures that core program components are effectively utilized based on the Detail Implementation Plan(DIP), supports periodic program monitoring and evaluation produces, shares and documents required program reports.

The ECCD officer will ensure that project activities are consistent with Save the Children’s programming principles and approaches, draw on relevant best practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and are compliant with donor regulations.

Program Implementation 

•    Build capacity on the program’s approaches and expected results through active participation in staff training and orientation as well as full engagement in the program’s processes.
•    Ensure the implementation of agreed plans at the field level to achieve quality results on time.
•    Participates in annual Detail Implementation Plan(DIP) development for activities identified for 3 -5 ECCD program
•    Coordinates effective implementation of parenting education(session) on early stimulation for 3-5  ECCD program,
•    Identifies and engages key stakeholders and partners at different levels in the effective implementation of the 3-5  ECCD program in the impact area.
•    In collaboration with key partners, regularly facilitates community-based parenting education on early stimulation.
•    Identifies doable platforms and maximizes efforts to mainstream the 3-5 ECCD program implementation in to the platforms.
•    Ensures that program budget is running per the DIP and identified activities are timely implemented.
•    Follows up with quality program implementation in collaboration with other program staff and MEAL Staff
•    Provides technical support during program evaluation, baseline and end line assessment
•    Actively engages in annual program review meetings, conferences, forums and advocacy contacts.
•    Frequently conducts visit arrangements to schools, community-based program implementation areas and centres.
•    Support the adaptation, testing and implementation innovative approaches and strategies with in ECCD program and also in sponsorship program.
•    Support sponsor visits and experience and knowledge sharing arrangements to be held in the impact are at different times.
•    Maintain strong networks, collaborations, partnerships with sponsorship program and operation staff, government offices, other local and INGO in the impact area for effective implementation of 3-5  ECCD program.
•    Actively engages in community mobilization activities so as to increase communities sense of ownership and participation in the program and to ensure program sustainability.
•    Compiles and documents success stories and case studies from the program he/she supports.

•    Develops and shares periodic field reports, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as per the organization’s requirement.

Collaboration and Representation
•    Represent Save the Children in a professional manner.
•    Liaise with other stakeholders, including schools, local leaders, partners and participates in relevant meetings in Ninewa
•    Collaboration with other education officers  in Ninewa to ensure synergies and consistency in our programming approaches.
Represent programming with local government, NGOs, communities and within SC as appropriate.

•    Basic education or adequate equivalent work/life experience at least for 3  years  in working and implementation for education activities including ECCD Programme
•    Candidates with a university and/or advanced degree preferred
•    Excellent Arabic language skills
•    Commitment to the mission and values of Save the Children;
•    Experience with community development, working with children and schools;
•    Strong understanding of the situation of the IDP-returnees-host community children (girls and boys);
•    Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
•    The ability to think critically and to recommend good solutions to problems.

•    Ability to conduct outreach at the community level;
•    Excellent sense of judgment, humor and patience;
•    Very good skills in English including report writing skills
•     Good computer skills (MS Office, including familiarity with internet).
•    Experience working with children and/or educators; MoE-level experience a plus
•    Experience in community mobilization and/or relationship building
