Job Overview

Main Purpose


The Education Officer is responsible for the technical supervision and coordination of all education-related activities under the supervision of the Education Manager and Programme Manager. S/he will ensure that training and capacity building needs of field education staff and also teachers, volunteers, school staff, and any other intervenient participating in the project/ programme area. Ensure the timely implementation, follow up on education services and activities meet quality standards in the sector.

  • Responsible for the correct implementation of the education monitoring activities in the area of intervention, providing guidance to the team in the planning and schedule the field visits;
  • Conduct regular field visits to supervise the activities according to planned schedule as well as ad hoc visits;
  • Ensuring quality implementation of education activities using the education monitoring tools: through observation, FGDs, Key Informant Interviews, Case Studies etc.
  • Regularly verify the status of the education platform and education databases, conduct case reviews and provide feedback to Education Team Leader and Education Monitors;
  • Organize regular meetings with Education Team Leader, Education Monitors and related colleagues as Protection colleagues, to discuss general challenges in their tasks and identification of education and protection challenges in the field and provide suggestions and improvements;
  • Review data and information collected during education monitoring and compile regular education reports highlighting gaps, concerns and trends to inform future programming;
  • Provide guidance to Outreach Volunteers, Teachers, PTAs, education committees in the planning and implementation of participatory community activities, awareness sessions and campaigns and in the general communication with communities;
  • Support the Education Manager/ Programme Manager in developing required donor reports, providing relevant insights on education related issues;
  • Ensure the activities are fully documented through attendance sheets of participants, pictures, videos (after receiving consent), pre and post tests and activities ad hoc reports;
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders as the Directorate of Education, Ministry of Education and Head Master in the field working in the project areas;
  • Proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings, as requested by the supervisor.
  • Perform any other task not listed and necessary for the implementation of the project activities or the mission program as requested by the Education Manager/ Program Manager.




  • Previous experience in similar position with INGOs (2 years);
  • University degree in Humanities and/or similar;
  • Adherence to humanitarian principles and code of conduct, in line with INTERSOS’ principles, values and regulations;
  • Fluency in Arabic and Kurdish;
  • Good IT knowledge and computer skills (word and excel);
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned program areas (KRI) to carry out rapid assessment;
  • Ability in analysing data and issue timely structured reports;
  • Knowledge of the context and of the Education system in KRI;
  • Knowledge of Child Safeguarding policy and PSEA;


  • Good Knowledge of English is highly valued;
  • Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, listening and communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team;
  • Pro-activity and independency;
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with stressful situations;
  • Previous working experience with camp and out of camp settings with IDPs, returnees, refugees and host- communities.
