Job Overview
- The FDI Junior Engineer will be required to work with various maintenance teams to support the operation and deliver field digital infrastructure project’s to agreed costs and timescales, maintaining quality and ensuring compliance with relevant goveranance, regulations, standards and policies.
- The role requires an individual with excellent organisation skills who is able to manage and deliver multiple projects with a deep understanding fibre, structured cabling, data centre passive infrastructure, wide area networks and general while having a good understating of overall telecommunications services and technologies.
Key Accountabilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage projects that include implementation of fibre, structured cabling, telecommunication cabins
- Participate in designing local area networks
- Maintain the integrity of the network
- Operate and maintain local area networks, track significant problems, monitor performance
- Diagnoses and resolves complex local area network issues
- Performs installation, maintenance, and operation of passive infrastructure as required
- Manage business as usual cable patching request
- Produce and maintain documentation regarding LAN passive configuration and service records relating to inter and intra-site passive infrastructure.
- Conduct site surveys… gather and ensure accuracy of the statement of requirements as defined by the Project Manager
- Assist in developing and writing the passive infrastructure scope of work for specific projects/sites
- Provide technical intra and inter site fiber and UTP design drawings
- Develop project Bill of Materials in relation to project SOW and design drawings
- Ensure compliance of Bill of Materials with project standards
- Conduct testing and acceptance walkthroughs upon project completion using the project acceptance checklist, ensuring compliance with all standards
Criteria & Qualifications:
Essential
- Meticulous organizational skills.
- Ability and drive to co-ordinate activities.
- Good inter personal skills.
- Experience of network infrastructure (passive & active), 2 years minimum.
- Experience of network topologies (passive & active), 2 years minimum
- ITIL certified
- Strong knowledge of local area network passive architecture
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local area networks
- Strong working knowledge of Fiber and LAN tools. (Fluke DTX-1800 copper/fiber test kit)
- English written & oral.
- Willing to work rotation 28 days on 28 days off and from home on rare occasions.
- Ability to work within a multicultural environment
- Significant experience in a similar role in an oil/gas company
- MS power point / creating and maintaining presentations
- MS power Excel / maintaining spreadsheets
- MS Access / maintain database entries as required.
- Intermediate MS visio / creating and maintaining network topologies
- Intermediate MS word / creating and developing scopes of work and other administrative documentation as required
