JOB SUMMARY

 

The Fire and Suppression Superintendent supervises inspections, construction, installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm, fire suppression, communications equipment and facilities including electrical and electronic installations. Responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm and suppression systems.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform supervisory work in the installation and maintenance of fire alarm, fire suppression, communications equipment and facilities including electrical and electronic installations.
  • Provide technical support to the Fire Department and other agencies.
  • Expected to manage resources and activities necessary to inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire detection/alarm systems and suppression systems, design and install new fire alarm/suppression systems in existing facilities, and review designs and statements of work for fire alarm and suppressions systems in new construction.
  • Ensure all scheduled and nonscheduled daily activities are accomplished.
  • Adhere to, and ensure all employees adhere to all company directives as they are published.
  • Provide feedback through your chain of command on all issues regarding employee misconduct, workplace violence, harassment, or workplace safety.
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Having at least 5 years of relevant experience is desired.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Detail orientated, with experience in managing multiple activities.
  • Experience or other qualifications that demonstrate strong decision-making skills, excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills, and ability to successfully supervise, motivate, correct, train, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Employee must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS

  • Physical requirements may include lifting to 35 lbs., team lifting 50 lbs., climbing, extended sitting and standing, stooping, stretching, or bending.
  • Individuals must be able to sit and concentrate for extended periods.
