FM Station Coordinator (reports through Director and Associate Director)

Position Description:

This role will identify and develop objectives, audiences and best strategy to implement targeted marketing and communications content and programming for AUIB’s FM station platform. This role will conceptualize, strategize, produce, and edit all University radio content (in Arabic and English) and will plan and execute the University’s strategic outreach campaigns as they relate to the FM station’s 24-hour programming content needs and its diverse audiences. This candidate will also manage the station’s operations, technical, and content teams while adhering to broadcast standards and complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

Main duties and key responsibilities include:

  • Performs as AUIB’s FM Station Coordinator and creates and executes all functions of the position in coordination with the Marketing and Communications team under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director
  • Serves as a focal point for both the AUIB internal community and external stakeholders concerning FM Station efforts and outreach
  • Provides a consistent brand voice across all FM Station content and programming
  • Shares Marketing and Communications team goals with a dedication to continuous improvement
  • Manages the FM Station’s day-to-day operations including employee, resource, and space allocation and utilization
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and executes communications strategies and opportunities for the institution’s events, leadership, partnerships, faculty, and students via the FM Station content and programming
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of proprietary data, materials, and other sensitive information
  • Liaises with Marketing and Communications team regarding content and programming creation and updates, prioritizes needs, and helps develop content
  • Collaborates and assists with all Marketing and Communications initiatives, informing team colleagues of marketing opportunities and trends as part of a holistic AUIB brand outreach and development
  • Interprets competitor strategies and consumer/audience behavior
  • Converts tracking and trend data into meaningful analysis/reports in user-friendly formats for diverse audiences and needs
  • Works under pressure and adheres to strict deadlines
  • Coordinates a student volunteer program
  • Recruits and maintains a diverse staff, adhering to the station’s mission
  • Advises team on exposure opportunities, including reputational risk
  • Identifies market opportunities for the AUIB brand and creates content and programming that push the University’s mission and vision forward to identified stakeholders and audiences
  • Helps department leads manage and track strategic marketing initiatives, working with direct supervisors, peers, and other internal departments, programs, and Colleges to track progress and results and inform future exposure and outreach decisions
  • Ensures accuracy and attention to detail across projects that reflect positively on AUIB’s brand and strategic priorities
  • Plans, develops, and project manages assignments, as well as incoming and existing workflow, and supports the team in best practices to ensure projects are tasked and completed on time
  • Conceptualizes, researches, and executes projects and initiatives requiring a high degree of sophistication and depth of knowledge in order to promote the AUIB brand
  • Keeps leadership and other staff members informed of progress, seeking review and approval at regular intervals, as well as collects feedback from other departments
  • Other duties as required

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/certificate or equivalent experience in Broadcast Journalism, Marketing and/or Communications
  • Five or more years’ content and programming creation experience for radio
  • Five or more years’ experience in media team project management
  • Can communicate fluently in Arabic and English
  • Knowledge of on-air and remote broadcasting processes, public radio principles, procedures, operations, and standards
  • Five or more years’ work experience communicating with international audiences
  • Five or more years’ work experience in an international marketing content and programming campaign setting
  • Exhibits exceptional attention to detail and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of current radio trends and ability to define short- and long-term goals and develop and manage strategies

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in an international higher education setting
  • Broadcast sales or sales management experience with a proven track record of success in the radio industry
  • Knowledge of national and local broadcasting regulations
  • Experience with inventory management and promotions
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of constituencies

Position Type: Full time/Regular, local hire or expat eligible
