Position Summary:

The Gym Attendant is responsible for ensuring the gym facility is clean, safe, and well-maintained while providing personalized training programs to members. This role combines general gym management duties with personal training services to enhance the fitness experience for all users. A key aspect of this position is ensuring the safety of all gym users by maintaining equipment, enforcing gym rules, and providing proper instruction and supervision during workouts.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure that all gym equipment is clean, well-maintained, and functioning properly.
  • ·Safety Checks: Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and facilities, reporting any issues to the Gym Manager.
  • Customer Service: Greet and assist gym members, answer inquiries, and provide information about gym services and schedules.
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Regularly clean and sanitize gym areas, including workout stations, locker rooms, and common areas.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory of gym supplies, such as towels, cleaning products, and equipment accessories.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all gym rules and regulations are followed, reporting and addressing any violations promptly.
  • Fitness Assessments: Conduct initial fitness assessments to understand the health and fitness levels of clients.
  • Personalized Training Programs: Develop and implement customized fitness plans based on individual goals and needs.
  • One-on-One Training: Provide personal training sessions, offering guidance on exercises, techniques, and nutrition.
  • Motivation and Support: Encourage and motivate clients to achieve their fitness goals, providing support and adjustments as needed.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor and document client progress, making adjustments to training plans as necessary.
  • Workshops and Classes: Conduct fitness workshops and group classes to educate and engage gym users.
  • Safety and Injury Prevention: Ensure that all exercises and programs prioritize safety to prevent injury.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education/Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; NC/HND in health and fitness related discipline or equivalent.


  • Previous experience of working within a health and fitness facility.
  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment.
  • Experience of carrying out cleaning duties.
  • Experience in delivering training programms for individuals to meet client requirements.
  • Experience in the delivery of fitness assessments.

Essential Skills:

  • Good knowledge of exercise fitness techniques and the human anatomy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using and instructing on gym equipment, repair & maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of nutrition and wellbeing.
  • Ability to meet challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and work as part of a team.
  • Client focused with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Speak English fluently.

Desirable Skills:

  • Emergency First Aid.

Physical Requirements (if needed):

  • Ability to lift and move heavy gym equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and demonstrating exercises.
  • Capability to work in a physically demanding environment.
