Main Purpose of the position:
Implement Health Promotion/ IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities with staff and patients to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics in collaboration with NTP for the TB activities in centres of detention.
Accountabilities:
• Inform staff and patients about MSF and the services it provides
• According to medical priorities, deliver information to the staff and patients on specific health topics
• Implement activities of health education and awareness under the indications and supervision of the HP Manger
• Under the guidance of HP Manager, assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications and behaviour observations), and report problems, success and constraints to him/her
• Collect all types of information related to specific health and living conditions of the target population
• Report to HP Manager: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints
• Provide support to implement, and monitor health promotion strategies and activities in the target population.
• Provide support in develop culturally sensitive educational materials, tools, for health education campaigns related to TB prevention, treatment, and stigma reduction.
• Conduct and facilitate assessments to identify barriers to TB prevention and control.
• Collaborate closely with local health authorities, social worker and other stakeholders to promote TB control initiatives.
• Provide regular visits to the project activity sites
• Provide support and guidance to social workers in TB-related activities, including monitoring and evaluation of their performance.
• Provide support to organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and focus group discussions on TB awareness, infection control, and treatment adherence for healthcare workers/ social worker and other relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in data collection, analysis, and reporting on health promotion activities, ensuring accurate documentation of outcomes and lessons learned.
• Stay informed about developments in TB treatment, and prevention strategies.
• Adhere to MSF’s principles and protocols, including medical ethics, confidentiality, and humanitarian principles, in all aspects of work.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social science, social communication, nurse or teaching
Experience: • At least 2-3 years of professional experience in health promotion and education, community mobilization, social work, or related fields, preferably in the context of infectious disease (TB prevention and control).
•Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including, healthcare professionals, and government officials.
• Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion interventions.
• Desirable experience in MSF or other NGOs in in the related field.
