Wood is recruiting for a HSE Supervisor to join its Iraq Operations Business Unit focusing on HSE and Detail Construction for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Basra, Iraq

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and focal point for HSE aspect during construction work along with Agup Ph 1 Project
  • Manage interfaces with the Project Contractor’s and ensure HSE compliance with TE rules and specifications
  • To communicate to all personnel the HSE policy and objectives.
  • To verify on site that Permit to Work (PTW) System is implemented accordingly to Company Rules.
  • Take part to the Permit to Work daily opening, gas measurement (as Authorized Gas Tester) and Toolbox Talks related to work activities.
  • Ensure all primary detection safety devices / monitoring instruments & equipment are always in operable conditions prior and during hot works and critical / risky activities such as hot works on live equipment / pipelines, vessel entries, pigging operations, structure repairs, plant modification.
  • Participate in Job Risk Assessment and request new JRA, review, propose and ensure adequate risk mitigations measures in considerations of Site Operations. Ensure Job Risk Assessments findings are implemented on the field.
  • Control the Safety execution (barrier off and distances) of Non-Destructive Testing operation (i.e. Ultrasonic, X-Radiography, and Magnetic control) / Pressure testing operation / electrical high voltage testing operation
  • Contribute, in the field, to the development of personnel’s awareness on Lifting Operations Procedure.
  • Support Scaffolding team to review and recommend for approval all Working at Height and Scaffolding procedures as provided by contractors/subcontractors.
  • Assist Scaffolding Supervisor to Inspect and approve scaffolding materials before the use.
  • To monitor that every hazardous substance, product or material is clearly identified and quantified, and that storage and handling requirements are clearly followed at site level.
  • To make sure that medical and first-aid materials and equipment are available on site.
  • To make sure CTR’s material & tools are provided with all certifications before site mobilisation and use.
  • To ensure that the policy governing personnel protective equipment (PPE) is properly implemented.
  • To contribute to define and procure all the specific HSE prevention and intervention materials and equipment, and to check on their availability and maintenance.
  • To take part in incident, accident and high potential near-miss investigations and analysis.
  • To contribute to the affiliate reporting system (Synergi record), for reporting and analysing anomalies, incidents and accidents as per company rules.
  • To ensure that any incident or anomaly (unsafe act/situation) is immediately reported and analysed.
  • To take part in audits of installations and operations.
  • Respond to all fire and emergency intervention promptly as soon as they occur. Operates the fire equipment in an efficient and effective manner to control and extinguish fires or similar emergencies at site facilities as instructed by management.
  • Know the key responsibilities and main priorities of the Emergency Response Team Leader/Coordinator.
  • Participate with leading roles in regular safety firefighting, gas release, and Oil spill Mitigations / emergency drills and practical training / Emergency Team Members on the proper use of the fixed, portable and mobile firefighting equipment and systems.
  • Look for and respond accordingly to signs of stress in individual ERT members during the emergency.
  • Supervise and operate the available breathing air filling unit & follow up necessary maintenance schedules and inspection of unit and perform sampling on produced breathing air for quality test and maintain regular records & report to HSE Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction field.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the oil industry, with significant experience in Construction.
  • Previous experience under SIMOPS works will be considered as a plus.
  • Team player with ability to work collaboratively across complex project teams and interface between interdisciplinary departments and within an international team.
  • Fluent in English, Arabic is a plus
  • Professional Experience (number of years): 10 – 15
