Legal & Compliance Manager

Job Overview

Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement, administer, and enforce policies, procedures and laws required for TIQ to operate in accordance with the law and regulations in KRG and C&S of Iraq.
  • Establish and update a compliance manual, prepare weekly message, and collect department initial compliance activity report and submit Compliance monthly report to shareholder.
  • Drafting and negotiating simple and complex contracts and NDA’s including but not limited to those related to TIQ shareholders and internal business and with third parties including universities, training providers, suppliers, commercial Bodies, governmental and united nation agency.
  • Advising on general business law issues and managing legal issues including labor, corporate matters, procurement, social security, Tax, custom, health and safety and governance.
  • Advising on data protection and privacy matters in the discharge of his responsibilities as Data Protection Officer.
  • Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations, monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Educate employees and volunteers on not only the legal requirements but also the impact on the organization if these are not complied with.
  • Report back to business functions on current risk and compliance performance, highlighting or escalating areas of concern and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization.
  • Review marketing materials, presentations, and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory Requirements.
  • Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory requests.
  • Perform various general administrative duties (such as file creation and maintenance of ongoing administrative projects, reviewing communications with Governments).
  • Collaborate with other departments to create a culture of compliance.
  • providing legal study and advice in-house as required.
  • Acting as Complaints Handling Officer for all complaints made against the organization, its members and/or its staff.
  • making sure all IP of the company been registered at S&C of Iraq.

 

Total professional years of experience:

At least 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role.

Languages required: (English, Arabic & Kurdish)

Education required: B.A in law and master’s degree in law is preferable.

Nationality: Iraqi

Age Range:30+

Gender preferred: No gender preference.

Skills (Technical & Soft):

  • Strong legal experience in corporate and commercial matters.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and business intelligence skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English, Arabic and Kurdish language.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects adhering to logistics, timescales, and deadlines.
  • IT literate – MS Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills; delivering on deadlines and to budget.
  • Self-motivation and initiative.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
