Logistics Assistant

Job Overview

Location: Baghdad, Iraq  

Report to: Operations Manager 

Activity Overview: Chemonics International, a US-based international development consulting firm, seeks a Logistics Assistant for the USAID Iraq Together Activity. Iraq Together aims to provide more equitable, efficient, and sustainable public services in Iraq, as well as improving government responsiveness to citizens’ needs and demands. Objectives of this project include working with the Government of Iraq (GOI) to improve service delivery and strengthen democratic and participatory governance.  

 

Position Overview: The Logistics Assistant will primarily focus on ensuring the office’s operational needs are met, including maintaining office supplies, overseeing maintenance schedules, and managing fuel supplies. This role will also provide logistical support for events and workshops, ensuring smooth operations and handling associated administrative tasks. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Ensuring that office supplies are well stocked and maintained. 
  • Overseeing office maintenance schedules, including coordination of repairs and services. 
  • Managing the fuel supply and ensuring proper documentation and tracking. 
  • Assisting with event and workshop arrangements, including handling hotel reservations, collecting attendance sheets, and coordinating logistics. 
  • Supporting stipend allocation for event participants. 
  • Creating Purchase Acquisition Requests (PARs) for office supplies and workshop needs. 
  • Performing all logistical tasks related to the office and the project. 
  • Assisting with events in other provinces as needed. 
  • Other logistical duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma required; diploma preferred. 
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role, preferably with international NGOs. 
  • Strong command of English and ability to engage in conversations. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, organized, and detail oriented. 
  • Good knowledge of computer programs and in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
