Missing Field Officer
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral, independent, and impartial international humanitarian organization, which assists and protects victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. Objective
The Missing Field Officer is a key position in the Protection of Family Links department. Together with the Missing Delegate, they work on the implementation of activities in favour of the families of persons reported missing because of various conflicts in Iraq, including the mobilization of the different services providers and authorities dealing with this file.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Participates actively in the implementation of multidisciplinary activities related to the missing file in Iraq, in contact with authorities, families of the Missing and other stakeholders.
* Contributes to the design of the missing strategy and the development of missing activities.
* Contributes actively to the organisation of internal and external meetings.
* Contributes to draft speaking points and minutes of meetings as well as providing interpretation.
* Contributes to developing and maintaining contact with central authorities and regional authorities, beneficiaries, and suppliers wherever relevant.
* Collects, compiles and translates missing related information, paying due attention to staff risk management requirements and ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
* Analyses data from internal and external sources and contributes to written reports.
* Assists in institutional exercises relating to planning, budgeting and monitoring programmes.
* Ensures establishing and maintaining efficient filing and archiving system for the purpose of institutional memory.
* Contributes to administrative requirements related to activities, such as the organisation of field visits, movements and meetings, logistical aspects and reports accordingly in the ICRC reporting tools.
* Assists in the transmission of correspondence between the ICRC and external institutions (i.e. authorities, governmental organisations, Non-Governmental organizations, etc.).
* Supports and where pertinent guides field staff in the implementation and monitoring of missing activities in the ICRC sub-sites.
* Fosters a constructive operational environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamics) among team members.
Education and Professional Experience required
* University degree in field of social, political, psychosocial, or legal sciences.
* 3 years of working experience in social, political, or similar fields.
* Previous working experience in humanitarian sphere or experience in the field of Protection of Family Links/Missing persons or similar experience with other international organizations or Non-Governmental organizations an asset.
* Communications Skills and analytical thinker.
* English and Arabic language Fluency is mandatory, Kurdish language is considered as an asset
* Computer Literacy is mandatory.
