Wood is currently looking for a Operations Excellence & Safety Specialist to join our team in Basra, Iraq.

 

  • Support drilling and wellwork activities safety management in WQ1 field.
  • Report to Operations Superintendent and appropriate Section Heads.
  • Support Wells Manager/Operations Superintendent, any issues concerning safety compliance, and provide written reports weekly on operational safety related topics.
  • Ensure a system is in place to be notified immediately of any incidents.
  • Additionally charged with offering operational excellence opportunities and initiatives.
  • Support D&WW Operations in “Nobody Gets Hurt” initiative
  • Participate in performance and development any safety processes
  • Participate in operational executions and efficiency opportunities
  • Responsible and accountable for WQ1- FOD expectations on job safety, health, environmental and security.
  • Audit and supervise rig and rigless contractors. Work with cross-functional departments (SHE, Security, Socio-Economic, Operations, FODP, DSs, etc.) to ensure location / sites rig and rigless operations meet WQ1-FOD safety objectives.
  • Maintain and effectively communicate with operation team and engineering team in D&WW, and relative departments and teams.
  • Execute safety programs consistent per WQ1 FOD expectations.
  • FOMS 6-2 / 6-3 management/execution and site contact.
  • Participate in Monthly / Quarterly Safety meetings and prepare presentations as required.
  • Prepare reports and lead the investigation team.
  • Maintain D&WW and audit all contractor’s safety management system and all documentations, including but not limited Permits to Work / JSA / SIMOPS / FOMS, etc.
  • Conduct and manage FOMS / field safety observations/ management walkabout, etc.
  • Track D&WW safety performance statistics. Identify lead / lagging indicators for safety improvement.
  • Manage D&WW team training matrix.  Provide safety trainings (i.e. Toolbox, Safety Meetings, etc.)
  • Execute safety initiatives (such as Safe Start) and prepare documentations on progress.
  • Conduct daily activities in support of D&WW operations.
  • Be part of continuous training and developing programs. Champion pro-active safety and hazard reporting.
  • Communicate weekly safety summary, internal and external safe alerts and proactive share safety items / learnings. Ensure safety learning is filtered down and understood by the crews in the field.

Skills / Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in Safety – required.
  • 5 plus years D&WW or relative oilfield experience – required.
  • Completed secondary education – preferred.
  • Proven communication skills – required.
  • Excellent communications (oral & written) in English and Arabic
  • Effective pre-planning of jobs from start to completion (Excel Spreadsheet, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Expertise knowledge of safety management tools and processes (Life Saving Rules, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment, etc.)
  • Knowledge for rig and rigless operations (drilling, workover and rigless, etc.)
  • Ability to handle multiple job tasks simultaneously.
  • Highest standards of Safety, Health, Environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others.
