Job Overview
Under the supervision of the Advocacy Manager and the oversight of the Director (and/or Deputy Director), the Outreach Officer will support effective implementation of Asuda’s activity under the Iraqi Female Changemakers project.
Free Yazidi Foundation, in collaboration with Asuda and other consortium partners, is launching the transformative Changemakers program, which aims to advance gender equality and empower religious and ethnic minority (REM) women in Iraq by facilitating their meaningful involvement and participation in decision-making processes at all levels. The program spans across 9 locations in Iraq and the KRI, focusing on equipping REM women with conflict resolution skills, advocacy strategies, and the tools necessary for their meaningful participation in civic and political processes and improved social cohesion.
The Outreach Officer will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, including focus group discussions (FGDs) and community surveys, to gather crucial data on attitudes and risks related to REM women’s participation in civic and political engagement. Additionally, the Outreach Officer will play a key role in facilitating training sessions, building the capacity of Changemakers, and supporting ongoing community outreach and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts throughout the program’s implementation.
This is a full-time position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform several functions:
- Collect and document insights on community attitudes regarding REM women’s civic and political engagement in gender equity initiatives.
- Support the development of training materials tailored to the specific needs of REM women and their communities.
- Deliver training sessions on community engagement and advocacy strategies, including online campaigns and direct lobbying, tailored to the needs of REM women.
- Conduct ongoing outreach to maintain strong connections with local communities and ensure their active involvement and continuous feedback throughout the program.
- Serve as a liaison between Asuda and community members, addressing community concerns and fostering trust.
Qualifications
- Higher education in social work, social science, community development, law, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in advocacy, civic engagement, or human rights work, with a focus on women’s rights or minority groups in Iraq.

- Fluency in Arabic, English and Kurdish is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach, fieldwork, or social research, particularly within REM communities in Iraq.
- Experience in facilitating group discussions, conducting surveys, and implementing training programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members and foster inclusive participation.
- Familiarity with the social, cultural, legal, and political dynamics affecting women and REM communities in Iraq.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as Federal Iraq.
