Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced PMC Bathymetric Survey Supervisor to lead and oversee bathymetric surveying activities for a high-profile Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Bathymetric Survey Supervisor will be responsible for managing survey teams, ensuring accurate underwater data collection, and verifying compliance with project specifications and standards. This role requires expertise in hydrographic surveying, leadership skills, and experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all bathymetric survey operations, including underwater mapping and data acquisition, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and validation of hydrographic and bathymetric data, charts, and reports.
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering teams, and contractors to ensure bathymetric data supports design and construction activities.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of fieldwork performed by survey teams, maintaining compliance with international standards and project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to survey teams, resolving challenges or discrepancies encountered during underwater data collection.
  • Conduct quality assurance and control (QA/QC) checks on bathymetric survey methods, tools, and results.
  • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of bathymetric survey equipment, such as multibeam echosounders and sonar systems.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of survey outputs, including charts, GIS data, and 3D models.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safety standards during all bathymetric survey operations.
  • Train and mentor survey staff, promoting technical excellence and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8-12 years of experience in bathymetric or hydrographic surveying, with a focus on Oil & Gas or marine construction projects.
    • Proven experience in supervising bathymetric survey teams for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in bathymetric survey tools and software, such as multibeam sonar systems, GPS, AutoCAD, and GIS tools.
    • Strong knowledge of hydrographic surveying principles, techniques, and international standards (e.g., IHO standards).
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills for effective team and stakeholder coordination.
    • Ability to work in challenging environments, including offshore and nearshore settings.
