Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PMC Geotechnical Survey Supervisor to manage and oversee all geotechnical survey activities for a prestigious Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Geotechnical Survey Supervisor will be responsible for supervising field investigations, ensuring the accuracy of geotechnical data, and verifying compliance with project specifications and international standards. This role requires strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering and survey management for large-scale infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all geotechnical survey activities, including soil sampling, drilling, and field testing, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and validation of geotechnical survey reports, including soil characterization and stability analyses.
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering teams, and contractors to ensure geotechnical data supports design and construction activities.
  • Monitor and verify the accuracy of fieldwork performed by survey teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to survey teams to address challenges and ensure quality control during geotechnical investigations.
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and operation of geotechnical equipment and tools.
  • Conduct quality assurance and control (QA/QC) checks on survey methods and results, maintaining data integrity.
  • Support the preparation of geotechnical deliverables, including foundation recommendations, slope stability assessments, and excavation designs.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and best practices during all survey operations.
  • Mentor and train survey staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8-12 years of experience in geotechnical surveys and field investigations, with a focus on Oil & Gas or large-scale construction projects.
    • Proven experience supervising geotechnical survey teams for infrastructure projects.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis tools and software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, gINT).
    • Strong knowledge of geotechnical survey techniques, soil mechanics, and international standards.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills for effective team and stakeholder coordination.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in challenging environments.
