Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive PMC HSE Supervisor to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) operations for a high-profile Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The HSE Supervisor will monitor site activities, ensure compliance with HSE policies, and promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the project. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience in HSE management within large-scale construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor daily HSE activities at construction sites to ensure compliance with project requirements, international standards, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure proper implementation of safety measures.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents, analyze root causes, and develop corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Provide HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks to employees and contractors to foster awareness and compliance with HSE protocols.
- Ensure emergency response plans are in place and conduct regular drills to test their effectiveness.
- Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to resolve HSE issues and implement corrective measures.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of HSE performance, including incident reports, inspection findings, and safety metrics.
- Report HSE performance and significant issues to the HSE Lead and project management team.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in HSE supervision, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline construction projects.
- Proven experience in a PMC environment and working in Iraq or similar regions is highly desirable.
- Certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent safety certifications.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, risk assessments, and incident investigation techniques.
- Familiarity with international HSE standards, such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to promote HSE best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a high level of safety compliance in a dynamic environment.
