Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced PMC Painting/Coating Inspector to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of all painting and coating activities for a high-profile Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Painting/Coating Inspector will be responsible for inspecting surface preparation, coating application, and adherence to project specifications and international standards. This role requires technical expertise in protective coatings, strong attention to detail, and experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect all painting and coating activities, including surface preparation, material application, and curing, to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Review and approve painting and coating procedures, ensuring they meet industry standards and project requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure quality control in all stages of the painting and coating process.
- Conduct visual and non-destructive inspections, including dry film thickness (DFT) measurements and holiday testing.
- Verify that painting and coating materials are stored, mixed, and applied as per manufacturer recommendations and project standards.
- Ensure compliance with international coating standards such as NACE, SSPC, or ISO.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Collaborate with contractors and project teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Promote adherence to HSE policies and ensure safe practices during all painting and coating activities.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on painting/coating progress, risks, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in painting/coating inspection, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline construction projects.
- Proven experience in a PMC environment is highly desirable.
- Certifications:
- NACE Coating Inspector Level II or III, or equivalent certifications (e.g., SSPC).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of painting and coating processes, surface preparation techniques, and international standards.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including DFT gauges and holiday detectors.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with contractors and project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
