Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced PMC Survey Underground Facilities Supervisor to lead and manage survey activities for underground utilities and facilities on a prestigious Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Underground Facilities Supervisor will ensure accurate detection, mapping, and documentation of existing underground structures, ensuring alignment with project specifications, safety protocols, and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all underground facility survey activities, including detection, mapping, and data collection of subsurface utilities and pipelines.
- Manage the preparation, review, and validation of survey reports, maps, and GIS data related to underground facilities.
- Ensure the use of appropriate technologies, such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic equipment, for accurate underground facility identification.
- Collaborate with project management, engineering teams, and contractors to ensure survey data supports design and construction activities.
- Monitor fieldwork conducted by survey teams, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Provide technical guidance to survey teams to address challenges encountered during underground facility surveys.
- Conduct quality assurance and control (QA/QC) checks on survey methodologies and results to maintain data integrity.
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of specialized underground survey equipment.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures during all underground survey operations.
- Train and mentor survey staff, promoting technical excellence and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 8-12 years of experience in underground facilities surveying, with a focus on Oil & Gas or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience supervising survey teams and working on subsurface utility mapping.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in using underground detection tools and software, such as GPR, electromagnetic locators, and GIS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of underground facility survey techniques and international standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills for team management and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in challenging and dynamic environments.
