Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled PMC Welding/NDT Supervisor to oversee welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities for a high-profile Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Welding/NDT Supervisor will ensure all welding and NDT activities comply with project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements. This role demands strong technical expertise in welding and NDT, leadership skills, and experience in large-scale construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all welding and NDT activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Monitor welding operations, ensuring adherence to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality standards.
- Coordinate and oversee NDT operations, including radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing.
- Conduct inspections to verify the quality of welds and ensure defect-free workmanship.
- Review and approve welder qualifications, NDT procedures, and related documentation.
- Address technical queries (TQs) and resolve issues related to welding and NDT activities.
- Collaborate with contractors and third-party inspectors to ensure seamless execution of welding and NDT operations.
- Maintain detailed records of welding and NDT activities, including inspection reports, test results, and certifications.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of NDT equipment to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- Promote adherence to HSE policies, ensuring safe practices during all welding and NDT activities.
- Provide training and mentorship to welding and NDT personnel to enhance technical capabilities and performance.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 8-12 years of experience in welding and NDT supervision, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline construction projects.
- Proven experience in a PMC environment is highly desirable.
- Certifications:
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent.
- NDT Level II or III certifications in RT, UT, MT, and PT per ASNT or ISO 9712.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, NDT methods, and international standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).
- Proficiency in interpreting welding and NDT procedures, isometric drawings, and P&IDs.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills for team and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and safety standards.
