Job Overview:
- Tareeq Al-Humam for Manpower Services is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Engineer to support the Anbar Composite Power Plant Project. The ideal candidate will operate between Baghdad and Anbar Province, working closely with a non-Iraqi line manager to manage and optimize procurement processes. This role involves ensuring the seamless execution of procurement activities while supporting the local management team with essential administrative tasks.
Nature of Work:
- Work Environment: The role demands both office-based tasks and extensive on-site presence at the Anbar Composite Power Plant Project. The candidate must be prepared for outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Work Hours: Flexibility is required as the role may involve extended hours, including overtime, to meet project deadlines and manage procurement activities effectively.
- Travel Requirements: Frequent travel between Baghdad, Anbar and Basra Province is expected. The candidate must have their own transportation to facilitate movement between sites.
- Physical Demands: The position may involve physical activity, including walking, standing for prolonged periods, and handling materials relevant to the procurement process.
- Reporting Structure: The Procurement Engineer will report directly to the non-Iraqi line manager and collaborate closely with the local management team to align procurement activities with project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute procurement activities in alignment with project requirements and company policies.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify and engage with major production facilities in Iraq, including but not limited to steel, GRP pipes, PVC pipes, cement plants, grouting materials, oil products, gases, and hazardous chemicals.
- Provide critical administrative support to the employer and local management, ensuring efficient coordination and functionality of departmental projects.
- Facilitate the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services necessary for project success.
- Maintain thorough documentation and reporting on procurement activities, ensuring transparency and compliance.
Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge:
Education level
- BSc College degree or equivalate work experience.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in procurement, particularly within industrial or construction sectors.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Iraqi market, with established connections to key suppliers in relevant industries.
- Commitment: Willingness to work extended hours and commit to long-term site work in Anbar Province.
- Personal Integrity: Demonstrated reliability with a clean personal record, free of any bad habits.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to manage procurement documentation and reports efficiently.
- Communication: Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging in professional dialogue and drafting formal correspondence.
- Mobility: Must have a personal transportation vehicle and office PC, enabling flexibility and independence in the role.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in outdoor environments for prolonged periods, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
