Job Overview

NES Fircroft are currently seeking a Project Engineer for a major operational oilfield in Iraq.

The Project Engineer reports to the Project Engineering Manager and is accountable to support  engineering delivery across the major project portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To support site engineering delivery across the major project portfolio.
  • Liaise on a day to day basis with the Projects Engineering Manager in support of key technical issues.
  • Provide Engineering Contractors to ensure all aspects of the design are technically acceptable and aligned to Rumaila’s standards.
  • Provide projects technical interface/coordination with maintenance, operations, engineering and other functions.
  • Ensure that all contractors are suitably technically pre-qualified/assured for the delivery of the projects.
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain function for project materials and equipment.
  • Supports project’s material management strategy
  • Demonstrate a pragmatic approach and risk based approach to solving technical challenges.
  • Assist with Projects Risk management and facilitate appropriate planning and actions accordingly
  • Support the development and implementation of a national development programme for project management and engineering.
  • Responsible for the development, and continuous improvement of project engineering management systems.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Essential Education – Degree Qualified, in discipline relating to area of expertise (e.g. Chemical Engineering) or equivalent.
  • Min 10 years’ experience working in the oil & gas industry including experience in a Project Engineering capacity.
  • Extensive Project & Brownfield experience is preferred.
  • Work independently and meeting dead-lines.
  • Can interact effectively as a member of the team.
  • Routine processes should be implemented with minimal supervision.

  • Previous experience of working within a multi-cultural and multi-discipline, multi-location environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deliver exceptional results in difficult project environments.
