Travel frequency:                   40% – Travel to Ninawa (Mosul, Sinjar, Tal Afar)

  1. Background:

Al-Mesalla Organization for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental organization established in 2004, registered in Baghdad and Erbil with headquarters located in Erbil. The organization is committed to promoting transformative justice in Ninewa, Iraq, aimed at restoring peace, stability, and trust within the community. The Project Manager will lead the implementation of initiatives focusing on reconciliation, conflict resolution, and community empowerment.

 

  1. Objective:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the transformative justice project in Ninewa, ensuring its effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

 

  1. Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Implementation:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
    • Oversee the execution of project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
    • Coordinate with partner organizations and local authorities to facilitate project implementation and ensure alignment with community needs.

 

  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track project progress, identify challenges, and measure impact.
    • Conduct regular assessments to ensure project activities are achieving intended outcomes and adjust strategies as needed.
    • Prepare periodic reports detailing project achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

 

  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Foster strong partnerships with local communities, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders involved in transformative justice efforts.
    • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders to promote ownership and sustainability of project interventions.
    • Represent the organization in relevant coordination meetings, workshops, and forums to share experiences and best practices.

 

  • Capacity Building:
    • Identify training needs among project staff and partners and develop capacity-building initiatives to enhance their skills and knowledge in transformative justice.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to project team members to support their professional development and ensure effective project delivery.

 

  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and challenges to project implementation and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements, to minimize legal and financial risks.
  • Reporting:

    The Project Manager will report to the Program Director or designated supervisor within the humanitarian organization.

 

  1. Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in the field of conflict resolution, peacebuilding, or humanitarian assistance.
  • Strong understanding of transformative justice principles and methodologies, with experience working in conflict-affected or post-conflict settings.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, with excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including communities, government officials, and donors.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Arabic or Kurdish is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working in Iraq or the Middle East region is an asset.
