Brief description of the organization
Al-Mesalla.ORG for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization registered with both the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Central Government. Since 2004, Al-Mesalla has been actively operating in Iraq, focusing on civil society empowerment, women’s rights, livelihoods, peace, and justice.
BACKGROUND
The project “Sawt al-Nisaa in Ninewa” aims to empower women in Nineveh by promoting their active participation in peacebuilding and security processes as per the guidelines of UNSCR 1325. This initiative is critical amidst the ongoing challenges in the region, where women’s voices are often marginalized in post-conflict reconstruction. The Project Manager will spearhead efforts to integrate gender perspectives into local policies and community practices, enhancing the societal impact and sustainability of peace efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership and Vision: Develop and articulate clear strategic goals for the project, aligning with broader organizational aims and donor expectations.
- Project Planning and Execution: Design project plans, including detailed timelines and resource allocations. Oversee the execution of these plans, ensuring that all activities are carried out within the agreed timelines and budgets.
- Team Management and Development: Recruit, manage, and mentor project staff and volunteers. Create a supportive and productive work environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community leaders, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders. Negotiate partnerships that enhance project effectiveness.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets meticulously, ensuring all expenditures are justified and documented. Prepare financial reports and forecasts as required by the organization and donors.
- Impact Evaluation and Adaptation: Implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system to measure project impact. Use findings to adapt and improve project strategies and activities continuously.
- Communication and Reporting: Regularly communicate project progress, challenges, and outcomes through formal reports and informal updates to donors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Coordination with the HR Department regarding duties and responsibilities assigned to her/him.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of senior project management experience, with a proven track record in gender-focused initiatives or peacebuilding projects.
Skills: Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills; strong financial acumen; superior communication and interpersonal abilities.
Language: Fluency in English and Arabic or Kurdish is essential.
