Job Overview

Elbarlament is seeking to recruit two Project Officers (each 40 hours/week) based in Iraq, initially until March 2024 (six months). However, there is a possibility of contract extensions beyond the initial duration.

The Project officers will coordinate technical and administrative tasks in our new project in Iraq, such as:

  • Independent coordination of tasks in close coordination with the project manager based in Germany
  • Preparation and implementation of certain project activities, like workshops, interviews and meetings with stakeholders
  • Conducting research activities
  • Planning, implementation, and post processing of events
  • Contributing to the preparation of technical and financial reports
  • Overseeing and supporting the implementation of dialogue and consultation projects implemented by Iraqi civil society organisations, including through:
    • Regular exchanges with the implementing organisations
    • Conducting site visits for monitoring and evaluation purposes
    • Providing feedback and advice regarding financial and narrative reporting and invoicing to elbarlament
  • Building and maintaining good relations with relevant stakeholders in Iraq in the field of democracy support and peacebuilding, in particular dialogue processes involving state authorities and civil society actors
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of project activities and outputs

Requirements:

  • University degree (Master or Bachelor or comparable degree)
  • Proven experience in coordinating, managing or otherwise supporting the implementation of democracy support, peacebuilding or dialogue projects (at least two years), including financial management
  • Proven expertise in event organisation
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Gender and conflict sensitivity
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Very good knowledge of the Iraqi political and social context
  • Availability to travel within Iraq
