REGIONAL HEAVY LIFT TRANSPORT ENGINEER

REPORTS TO: Managing Director – Dubai
Engineering Director (Global)

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To manage the provision of the technical services for the Project to meet client’s objectives. This includes the planning and execution of qualifying movements by all modes of transport for Projects. Additional technical support and assistance as may be required and to deliver no harm to people and the environment and zero accidents.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Design, planning and monitoring of all abnormal load cargo movements (OOG & SOOG) including transport, lifting and securing plans, feasibility studies etc.

· Provide comprehensive, skilled, professional, technical advice and support, to the Company Project Management and Operations teams, relating to the preparation, movement and delivery of Abnormal Loads and all other cargo movements via single or multiple transport modes

· Actively build strategies with client and Company teams to optimise operational performance

· Contributing to the maintenance of Company’s technical knowledge base/library

· Continued development of Company’s Abnormal Load capability

· Promote of Company’s best practice technical processes and maintain use of best in class practice

· Detailed planning & implementation of technical studies including coordination with relevant bodies, delivery of services in accordance with client expectations, Company objectives and contractual requirements

· Ensuring that Operational Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are undertaken and agreed prior to commencement of cargo movement

· Evaluation of Supply Sources processes, procedures and assisting with improvements when necessary

· Project procurement as necessary and authorised by the Managing Director, Dubai or Engineering Director

· Monitoring, intervening and directing implementation of Supply Sources processes to ensure work quality and techniques remain of a high standard and comply with client plans, applicable Legislation and site requirements

· Attendance at Load Outs as required

· Assuring compliance with all aspects of HSSEQ

· Producing reports to a high standard for Company and client information

REQUIREMENTS

· Detailed knowledge of transportation by road, sea, rail, air and rivership

· Detailed knowledge of out of gauge and rivership cargo movements

· Relationship management and interpersonal skills (and training)

· Communication, influencing and negotiating skills

· Strategy (development) and Implementation skills

· Priority setting and operations management skills

· Ability to follow procedures strictly and to enforce their adherence

· Knowledge of abnormal loads/heavy lifts/HSSEQ

· Understanding of SCM and warehouse management

· Research, Report Writing and Presentation skills

· Pragmatic approach to (and) problem solving and decision making skills

· Coaching and people management skills

· ICT systems appreciation, PC literate with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Project & Autocad operational skills

· Professional and positive approach
