Roster Call for Researchers

Job Overview

RDG is expanding its roster of skilled researchers to support its projects on a contractual basis. Successful candidates will be engaged based on project needs and their subject matter expertise. Our consultant roster allows RDG to mobilize research teams quickly when new projects arise. Inclusion on RDG’s roster is not a promise of employment or a short-term contract.

Tasks assigned to researchers will depend on the scope and scale of the research initiative but may include one or more of the following:

  • Creating overarching research methodologies, sampling plans, and stakeholder maps.
  • Developing qualitative research tools such as key informant interview (KII) protocols and/or focus group discussion (FGD) guides.
  • Conducting and facilitating desk research, KIIs, and FGDs.
  • Coding and summarizing data trends, including using AI-enhanced coding software.
  • Analyzing qualitative data with precision and delivering in-depth insights based on client requirements.
  • Preparing concise and comprehensive reports and presentations in English and/or Arabic.
  • Collaborating with clients to shape research scope and understand its use.
  • Oversee and manage research assistants and/or other research teams to ensure adherence to research methodology and tools.
  • Other related tasks based on client requirements and the consultants’ expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of proven experience in qualitative research, including tool development and data collection methodologies.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following thematic areas:
    • Democracy, human rights, and governance
    • Civil society
    • Climate change
    • Economic growth
    • Inclusion (women/youth/vulnerable peoples)
    • Private sector development
    • Digitalization
    • Conflict dynamics
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting findings to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team or independently, depending on project requirements.
  • Flexibility and availability for project-based engagement.
  • Fluency in either Arabic or Kurdish.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in social sciences, development studies, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Experience leading research projects and managing research teams.
  • English fluency (writing/speaking) strongly preferred.
