JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Electrician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and monitoring the functionality of SCADA/ Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems for the Base Power Plant and Fuel Farm, and assisting with construction project planning and upgrades.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adjust the SCADA system to monitor generator and Ring Main Unit (RMU) load and voltage; and adjust system thresholds to optimize power production outputs.
- Determine seasonal production demands from historical data to configure SCADA for automatic generator activations, harmonizing power production thresholds throughout the electrical distribution infrastructure.
- Configure the SCADA display application screen to monitor and detect potential equipment malfunctions for manual or remote access intervention, to prevent electrical de-energization of the Power Plant and Fuel Farm.
- Determine and adjust which SCADA system components will require automatic or manual operational modes for technical analysis and remediation, including fuel flow rate adjustments.
- Ensure all devices connected to the SCADA system can be operated through the PLC program or deactivated during maintenance intervals when necessary.
- Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to applicable sections of the NEC, NFPA 70/72, and/or British Standards 7671 for low and medium voltages.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, instructions, and other technical documentation to provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) oversight during system and site construction upgrades.
- Lead a work party in performing maintenance or repair work.
- Maintain, repair, replace, and/or install a broad range of electrical equipment to support 11KV systems.
- Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist Electrical Department with other related incidental work as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in medium and high voltage installation, maintenance, and repair is preferred.
- A valid journeyman license is preferred, or proof of regional training/competency, or certificate of completion from an Electrical Apprenticeship program is preferred.
- Completion of a recognized vocational education program in electrical or industrial electrical, or industrial training OR completion of a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Program and three (3) out of the last five (5) years’ journey-level experience as an electrician in the industrial maintenance field is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in methods, equipment, and materials used in the electrical trade.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring, and electrical equipment used in power production and distribution.
- Theory of operation and use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units and other computer-based equipment.
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Ability to work from blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches.
- Ability to work independently with little direction.”
- Installation, including programming, and troubleshooting of PLC-based equipment.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
- Physical requirements may include lifting up to 35 lbs., team lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, extended periods of sitting and standing, stooping, stretching, or bending.
