About the job:
Kent is looking for Senior Contracts Engineer based in BGC to support the P&E team in all aspects of the Contracting and Procurement Process.
BGC Contracting & Procurement seeks a motivated CP professional with the capacity to step up and deliver opportunities in a complex and challenging business environment. The wide variety of stretching operational and project challenges BGC has to offer will give the right individuals the opportunity to substantially broaden their experience with regards to people development, leadership skills and core C&P/Commercial skills.
The Company seeks an experienced, highly driven self-starter Senior Contracts Engineer, to oversee Project & Engineering (“P&E”) Contracts.
Skills and Experience:
· Keep sound working relationships and work effectively with P&E team whilst maintaining commercial and contractual challenge.
· Develop and implement robust contracting strategies and tactics to optimise value for the business; and addressing the business and HSSE considerations, including market capacity and capability, local content opportunities, risk exposure.
· Lead the tendering process by coordinating with the Contract Holder(s) and the P&E team to align C&P activities with P&E objectives and obtain the Scope of Work, draft tender documents etc. and interface with all stakeholders for compilation of the tender documents. Structure contracts and agreements with the objective of minimising claims and disputes.
· Ensure that the safety aspects with attention to contractor HSSE, as well as risk, local content, QA/QC, environmental and community relations aspects are captured and documented in the contractual requirements.
· Ensure that prequalification and tendering activities are carried out in an effective and timely manner in line with the C&P Procedure.
· Carry out effective due diligence of the tenderers to ensure selection of tenderers of high quality.
· Follow up with tenderers to obtain their acknowledgements, clarifications /extensions, issue tender bulletins/addendums, preparation of bid evaluation criteria, receive bids, arrange for bid openings, address contractual /commercial exceptions taken by bidders.
· Prepare tender evaluation plan, defend its content and obtain its approval.
· Coordinate relevant peer reviews and approval of both the tender and final contract documents.
· Review and finalise robust contracting documents in cooperation with Legal department and other applicable departments.
· Interact and develop submissions and supporting documents for obtaining approvals from external and internal stakeholders (Higher Management Committee and Tender Committee).
· Develop and execute robust contract management plans to support stakeholders in the post award management of a contract.
· Establish effective post award contract management for EPC/EPF and other Construction contracts ensuring proactive work with Project Control, Project Managers, HSSE and Contract Holders. Additional focus on identifying risks and opportunities including subcontractor management.
· Ensure that contract spend is recorded in an auditable fashion. Assist in monitoring spend with forward looking activities for each contracts ACV.
· Ensure robust Contract Management Plans are in place and regular reviewed with Contract Holder(s) to demonstrate Contractor’s performance is in line with contracts expectation.
· Ensure that Change management process is managed effectively, by timely addressing variations and claims.
· Manage and maintain C&P contract/PO files including Tender Committee submissions, signed orders, requisitions, correspondence and other relevant documentation.
· Support the Vendor Management group by introducing new contractors and suppliers.
· Ensure SAP and ARIBA are appropriately applied on each contract/PO, data is kept up to date and act as a process custodian for the RtP process and pursue standardization

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee’s skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
· BEng, BSc, or equivalent Engineering Degree from an accredited University
Skills
· Build and manage relationships with priority business representatives, serves as a key member of BGC C&P team to support implementation of BGC business plan for the P&E, facilitate the entire contract strategy development & sourcing process; individual should demonstrate a strategic business mindset, present an executive-level presence, and balance multiple stakeholder interests simultaneously.
· Manage detailed analysis of proposals and vendor capabilities, negotiations and supplier selection. Ensure effective agreements are made including local Iraq logistics and import requirements, and invoices are paid in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions to secure BGC reputation. Leverage key metrics to identify problem areas and adopt current and emerging business models with an entrepreneurial mindset and creative approach to drive best practices.
