Position: Senior Finance Officer

Department: Finance, Support Unit

Reports To: Executive Director

Location: Baghdad, Iraq

Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Finance Officer will lead the Finance Department within the Support Unit at The Station. This role is essential in ensuring the financial integrity and efficiency of the organization by overseeing budgeting, financial planning, accounting, and financial reporting, while adhering to financial policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management & Planning:
    • Develop, manage, and oversee the organization’s budgeting and financial planning processes.
    • Implement and maintain robust financial systems and controls.
    • Monitor cash flow and manage the organization’s financial resources efficiently.
  2. Reporting & Compliance:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with financial and legal regulations.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for the completion of annual audits.
  3. Accounting for Grants:
    • Oversee the accounting aspects of grant funding in coordination with the Programs Unit.
    • Ensure accurate financial recording and tracking of grant funds.
    • Provide financial information related to grants to the Programs Unit as needed for theirreporting purposes.
  4. Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
    • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
    • Align the finance team’s work with The Station’s mission and values.

    5. Strategic Contribution:

  • Contribute to strategic planning processes at The Station.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and financial optimization.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
  • Minimum of Five years of experience in financial management, with a strong background in accounting.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and managing accounting aspects of grants.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and team management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office Suite.
