Context and Reporting Line:
Under the overall Supervision of the MHPSS Programme Coordinator, the administrative supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) and the direct supervision of the MHPSS Programme Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the MHPSS programme activities and related programming.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
1. Provide technical support and coordination with MHPSS staff that are engaged in MHPSS services, facilitating timely and effective execution of project activities and operational plans, as well as efficient, transparent and accountable use of allocated funding.
2. Support the development and implementation of MHPSS approaches related to integrating MHPSS services into a variety of non-MHPSS programmes.
3. Assist the MHPSS Programme Coordinator and Officer in the overall management of the MHPSS activities in project locations, including administrative, coordination, and monitoring.
4. Maintain project documentation and information, including the preparation of informal Arabic and English translations of technical documents.
5. Collect data for assessments and research on MHPSS across different field locations and develop timely reports, feedback mechanisms and other materials related to MHPSS services integrated into other programming.
6. Implement field level MHPSS activities that are integrated into other programming and supporting the field teams in meeting programmatic objectives as well as working on factsheets that highlight field level achievements.
7. Conduct regular data analysis of participant feedback in relevant MHPSS programming.
8. Participate in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the programme and in the logistical elaboration of the programmatic phases of intervention.
9. Conduct MHPSS services in line with IOM MHPSS standards.
10. Ensure that confidentiality and the right to privacy is maintained regarding confidential beneficiary and project information. Ensure that hardcopy and electronic information systems are maintained, particularly the important notes of all key monitoring, implementation, and coordination activities.
11. Deliver training sessions to MHPSS field staff and staff of other programmes related to MHPSS.
12. Deliver external IOM training sessions on the MHPSS.
13. Perform other duties as may be assigned by programme management.
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health or any other related field from an accredited academic university or institution with 4 years of relevant professional experience, or;
• Completed highschool diploma with 6 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills
• Experience in providing mental health and psychosocial interventions to individuals and groups.
• Experience in working with IDP and returnee populations.
• Experience working in displacement settings.
• Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in conducting assessments, using screening tools and creating individual care plans for clients seeking mental health services.
• Experience in working in an international environment and in liaising with a variety of partners at all levels of the hierarchy.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to present clear and concise information.
• Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point.
• Knowledge of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) MHPSS in emergencies guidelines.
• Ability to conduct counselling sessions via interpreters/cultural mediators, whenever necessary.
• Ability to conduct sessions remotely.
• Experience in working with young people (children and adolescents).
• Experience in conducting research across a variety of settings.
• Experience in MHPSS integration into other programming, including climate change, livelihoods, etc.
Languages:
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
• Working knowledge of any other language is an advantage.
