Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation) for Iraq Operations with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas Industry based in Basra, Iraq.

Job Objective

A senior role within the Wood Iraq business, joining the recently formed joint venture company with Woods long-term Iraq partner Al Majal. The joint venture company is ‘Wood. Al Majal’ and has been formed to combine the strengths of both partners to enter and succeed in tendering, securing, and delivering Brownfield Maintenance Modifications, Completions & Commissioning, and Maintenance Projects within Iraq’s Oil & Gas Sector
The role is to develop the fabrication and construction capability within Wood. Al Majal to secure and execute Brownfield Maintenance Modification scopes. This involves establishing the fabrication workshop, hiring, and developing skilled resources, establishing processes and procedures to execute fabrication and oversee construction/ installation / handover work on sites. Responsible for the successful management of the fabrication and construction sector of Wood Al Majal
Reports to the Wood Al Majal General Manager and provides input to Business Plan, Budget, Proposals an Execution Plans

Key Accountabilities

Execution

  • Ownership of the fabrication and construction projects
  • Establishment of fabrication facilities, processes, and procedures
  • Recruitment of skilled resources to create competent team to be used across multiple projects
  • Provide input to annual budget and manage costs against approved budget
  • Provide input to proposals
  • Develop Execution Plan and measure performance against same
  • Ownership of procurement and subcontracts required for fabrication or construction services
  • Engage with Wood Engineering to align on engineering deliverables required for project scopes
  • Engage with Wood Commissioning and Construction Regional Managers for support with planning and delivery
  • Meet, engage, and build trusting relationship with clients

HSE, Quality and Assurance 

  • Ensure compliance with Wood HSSE, Quality and Ethics & Compliance policies
  • Ensure HSE and Quality Plans are in place and being adhered to
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with Wood policies and their own HSE and Quality Plans

Leadership

  • Guide and direct the team, to achieve goals
  • An advocate and role model for ethical behavior and compliance with applicable laws and policies
  • Teach and empower others to make decisions within established parameters

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • University degree in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Typically requires more than 10 years of experience, covering engineering, fabrication, and construction
  • Site experience, including Brownfield Maintenance Modification works is essential
  • Good understanding of technical work scopes and commercial aspects of projects required
  • Experience in Proposals/ Tendering Process preferred
  • Iraq or Middle East experience preferred but not essential
  • Good stakeholder management and able to coach and advise others in this area
